2022 Swimming Carnivals
Based on Qld Health COVID mandates and guidelines, the CaSSSA Medium Swimming Carnival was postponed until Tuesday 15th March, while the Large Schools’ Carnival proceeded on Thursday 10th March as scheduled. Medium Schools’ staff, Heads of Sport and Principals must be commended on their flexibility to ensure that the Medium carnival could proceed.
Both the Large and Medium Schools’ Swimming Carnivals were contested enthusiastically despite the absence of student spectators.
2022 saw the introduction of the rule preventing schools from swimming students up age-groups. While challenged due to large student absentees, Heads of Sport agreed that the introduction of this rule was a positive step in building team culture, with a greater number of students encouraged to join schools’ swimming teams to ensure that they could field athletes in all races on the program.
Congratulations must go to Stuartholme, who took out the Aggregate, Percentage and All Age Relay at the Medium Carnival. The Large Carnival was a very close battle, with St Rita’s and All Hallows’ separated by just 20 points going into the relays. It was All Hallows’ who continued their unbeaten winning streak, however, taking out the CaSSSA Aggregate Cup, for the 9th time since the inception of CaSSSA in 2014, with Mount St Michael’s taking out the Percentage Cup and All Age Relay.
