The Covid pandemic saw the delayed start to the school year, resulting in a reduction of rounds for the CaSSSA Tennis and Term 1 fixtures start dates. The commencement date of tennis fixtures was pushed back two weeks, with 7 rounds of fixtures played, and premierships determined according to ladder standings, in the absence of a finals round. Term 1 Wednesday fixtures were reduced to a six-week season, incorporating 5 rounds of fixtures and 1 week of finals.

 

Unfortunately La Nina had a significant impact on all sport in term 1, with 2 rounds of tennis, 4 rounds of Senior AFL and 1 round of indoor cricket and volleyball washed-out due to rain and the impact of the floods on Brisbane Sporting Venues.

 

Flood damage to Toombul Indoor Sports Centre, saw a mid-season venue change to Bracken Ridge for Senior Indoor Cricket, and several of CaSSSA’s AFL venues were closed for several weeks.

 

Based on this significant reduction in rounds played, no premierships were awarded for Senior A AFL, however, mid-season draw modifications were made where possible, to ensure that premierships could be awarded for all others sports and divisions.
